Kasama Campaign Admits to Hiding LLCs, Deepening Ethics Scandal

(Albert Mack for Nevada) – Heidi Kasama is already facing two ethics complaints tied to disclosure and transparency.

Now, her own campaign has put out a statement that only makes those concerns worse.

In that statement, the Kasama campaign admits that Heidi Kasama stepped in for her husband and personally signed as manager of those LLCs, while also claiming that neither she nor her husband was paid.

This only raises more questions than it answers.

Just as importantly, this was not a real public response.

Instead of addressing voters directly, the Kasama campaign quietly circulated this statement to a small group of insiders after the issue was already under scrutiny.

That is not transparency. It is damage control.

And once caught hiding LLCs, the response from an Assemblywoman running on transparency should not be, “other people do it too, so it is fine.

That is not accountability. That is a loophole defense from a candidate who asks voters to trust her.

If Heidi Kasama believes these LLCs were acceptable not to disclose, then voters have every right to ask a simple question: how many other LLCs has she chosen not to disclose?

If she believes this was proper, the public deserves to know the full picture and judge for themselves.

There is also still the unanswered question of the $500,000 Kasama loaned to her own campaign.

If these LLCs were hidden from disclosure, how is the public supposed to know whether any of that money originated from those entities or was connected to them in any way?

The Kasama campaign’s statement also claims it is now seeking guidance from the Secretary of State regarding compliance with reporting requirements.

We have reached out to the Secretary of State with this statement to confirm whether that guidance was sought. We are still awaiting a response.

Finally, the statement uses quotes from Governor Lombardo and Commissioner April Becker in a way that suggests they are addressing this ethics issue, when in fact those quotes were originally used months ago as part of their endorsements. That is another attempt to blur the facts and shape a misleading narrative.

As Woodrow Johnston, President of the Las Vegas Young Republicans, said:

This is exactly why I filed an ethics complaint against Heidi Kasama in the first place. Transparency is not something you claim after the fact. If she wanted to be transparent, she should have disclosed this from the beginning and addressed voters directly, not quietly circulate a statement to insiders once questions were raised.”

Heidi Kasama has made transparency a central part of her campaign. Voters can judge for themselves whether this response meets that standard.
