Governor Joe Lombardo has officially endorsed Kelly Chapman, throwing his support behind a candidate who’s been building her campaign around the basics: safer neighborhoods, a stronger economy, and a little more common sense in Carson City.
Chapman has called Las Vegas home for over three decades. She built her career in the gaming industry, working her way up from blackjack dealer to high-limit pit boss. She didn’t come up in politics; she worked hard in the real world.
Now she plans to use that experience and wisdom while serving the state of Nevada in Assembly District 41.
Governor Lombardo says she’s the kind of leader Nevada needs right now.
“Kelly Chapman is a strong advocate for victims of crime and has fought for programs to keep our communities safe. Kelly is ready to strengthen public safety, restore accountability in government, and make housing more attainable for Nevada families. She’s a principled leader who will put Nevadans first and I’m proud to endorse her for State Assembly.”
Chapman didn’t overcomplicate her response.
“Truly grateful for the endorsement of Governor Joe Lombardo. I’m proud to stand with a leader who has always put Nevada first and fought for safe communities and accountability. I’m ready to carry that same commitment to Assembly District 41. Let’s get to work.”
That last part is important. Right now, a lot of people feel like nothing’s getting done.
Like decisions are being made somewhere else, by someone else, and always about something that doesn’t seem like it should be a priority.
All the while, basics like safe neighborhoods, affordable living, and giving people tools to get ahead are put on the backburner.
Chapman isn’t backing away from that frustration. She intends to face it head on. Less talking. More doing.
Governor Lombardo’s endorsement tells the public that he believes Chapman will follow through on that.
For Chapman, her plan stays the same: Do the job. Fight to fix what’s broken. Don’t forget who you’re working for.
It’s a pretty simple set of standards. Unfortunately, not always so easy to find.
