Pittsburgh Not Paris Rally: You Can Do It Too

(CHQ Staff) – The “Pittsburgh Not Paris” rally, organized at the last minute by the Fairfax County Republican Committee and the Republican Party of Virginia, brought several hundred supporters of President Trump to Lafayette Park near the White House.

The rally was dubbed “Pittsburgh, not Paris” in a nod to one of Trump’s lines during Thursday’s announcement that the U.S. would withdraw from agreement.

“We did this on 24 hours’ notice,” Matt Ames, Chairman of the Republican Party in Fairfax County, Virginia, told Donald Gilliland of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We’re a county party; we don’t have a huge infrastructure. We did it to see what would happen, and people came from out-of-town. I think it’s great.”

Demonstrators held Trump campaign signs and signs reading “make America great again” and “thank you Mr. President.” Many carried flags.

And one even drove down from Pittsburgh to participate. . . .

The Fairfax County GOP’s “Pittsburgh Not Paris” rally was a huge success garnering media coverage all over the world. We urge our conservative friends to do the same thing in their communities.  Put the notice out on social media, hit your email list, make some signs and be surprised at how many people show up at your impromptu demonstration.

P.S.  I’ll be jetting off to DC early tomorrow morning and won’t be back until Friday night – after a morning briefing at the White House.  Hold down the fort until I return!

THE ENTREPRENEUR PRESIDENT

“What you dream about is what you’ll do.  If you cannot even dream of doing big things, you will never do anything big in life. . . . Do not worry about whether you can do it.  That does not matter.  It does not cost anything to dream.  Spend your time enjoying your big dreams.” – Donald Trump, “Think Big and Kick Ass” (2007)

NEVADA NEWS & VIEWS

It’s over.  Republicans surrendered, as usual.  As such, Nevada’s landmark ESA school choice program – a national model – is dead, dead, DEAD.

ESAs had two chances…

One, Republicans would remain united and oppose SB546 – the Capital Improvements budget bill that required a 2/3 super-majority vote because it includes a tax hike.  Failure to pass that bill would have required a special session to resolve the issue and assure ESAs were funded.

Two, Gov. Brian “Worst Governor in America” Sandoval could veto the budget bill and again a 2/3 super-majority would have been necessary to overturn his veto. Again, the issue then would have been resolved in a special session.

But Gov. Surrender Monkey announced last week that he would NOT call a special session under any circumstance, even to fulfill his promise to fund the ESA program.

Lying and breaking promises – like he did last session by pushing through the largest tax hike in state history despite running for election on a platform of opposing tax hikes – is this guy’s legacy.

But legislative Republicans still had final control over the outcome.  All they had to do was remain united in defense of the ESA program by voting as a bloc against the Capital Improvement budget.

But three sell-out state senators – Heidi “Government Employee” Gansert, Ben “Blue Dog” Kieckhefer and Becky Harris – told the 10,000+ ESA families to pound sand by voting with the Democrats to pass the bill.

And it’s a given that at least one or more sell-out Republicans in the Assembly will similarly vote with the D’s to kill the ESAs later today despite having the ability to keep the program alive.  The way is there; the will isn’t.

But it’s even worse…

Not only did Sandoval, Gansert, Kieckhefer and Harris kill ESAs, they also resurrected and voted for a totally unnecessary tax hike on marijuana. Which, by the way, COULD have been used to fund the ESAs.  Disgusting.

Once again, Republicans never blow an opportunity to blow an opportunity. Pathetic.  What losers.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“We believe that there is a climate issue and we need to solve it. But signing an agreement that has no enforcement, no mechanism to enforce any aspect to it, is ridiculous.  President Trump is the president for all Americans, not just the ones who voted for him. For us, the whole ‘Pittsburgh not Paris’ has really resonated.” –Fairfax County GOP committee executive director Steve Buckingham
