No, Republicans Didn’t “Manufacture” a Crisis – Obamacare Did That All by Itself

Nevada U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen is out today with another panic blast.

She says Republicans should be “ashamed.” She says the GOP is trying to “double” health care costs. She says families will lose coverage, prescriptions, and even lifesaving care.

Strong words. Scary words. And almost every bit of it is spin – at best.

Let’s slow down the sales pitch and look at what’s really going on.

The Scare Story They Want You to Buy

Rosen claims Republicans are blocking the temporary COVID-era subsidy boosts for Obamacare. She says this single move will “manufacture” a crisis for 22 million Americans.

The email reads like the world is ending at midnight, unless you click her fundraising link.

But here’s what Rosen leaves out. Obamacare was already a crisis before Republicans ever touched a thing!

Premiums shot up. Deductibles exploded. Networks shrank. And taxpayers footed bigger and bigger bills to hide the true cost of a broken law.

That’s not a GOP problem. That’s an Obamacare problem.

The Facts They Don’t Want You to See

A new Heritage Foundation analysis lays out the truth in plain numbers.

Premiums in the individual market jumped 133 percent since Obamacare began. That’s more than double the growth in employer plans.

Then there’s the deductible nightmare.

The average deductible in 2024 hit $7,144 for one person and $14,310 for a family. For many Nevadans, that means your “coverage” kicks in only after you’ve emptied your savings.

And remember how Obama promised families would save $2,500 a year? The opposite happened.

Rosen never mentions any of this.

The Subsidy Game They Don’t Want Exposed

Democrats boosted subsidies during COVID. They now want to lock in those “temporary” boosts forever. The Congressional Budget Office says doing so will cost taxpayers $350 billion over 10 years.

Who gets the money? You’d think families. But the Joint Economic Committee found the truth.

For every one dollar that goes to consumers, two dollars go to insurers, brokers, or disappear as deadweight loss.

Translation: Obamacare subsidies are a cash cow for the insurance industry.

No wonder big insurers love the program. Rosen doesn’t talk about that either.

The Fraud Bombshell They Hope You Missed

The GAO just revealed something darker.

Between January and August 2024, 275,000 Americans reported being enrolled in an Obamacare plan without their consent.

GAO investigators filed 20 fake applications. Nineteen were approved.

Another congressional report says 35 percent of subsidized enrollees never filed a single medical claim.

Dr. Brian Blasé testified under oath that as many as 6.4 million people were improperly enrolled at a cost of $27 billion.

That’s not a glitch. That’s a nationwide fraud pipeline paid for by taxpayers.

And Rosen says Republicans are the ones “manufacturing a crisis”?

The Real Fix: Put Power Back in People’s Hands

President Trump has already called out the elephant in the room. He says insurance companies are making a fortune off a broken law.

Their stock prices exploded. They pocket “hundreds of billions” while families get stuck with lousy coverage and giant deductibles.

His proposal is simple.

Give the money directly to patients. Let families control their own health dollars. Force insurers to compete for real customers instead of gaming federal subsidies.

Sen. Bill Cassidy’s HSA plan heads the same direction. Price transparency bills push for honest costs. Real reform means real markets, not government tricks.

Why This Matters for Nevada

Nevadans already face some of the highest premiums in the West. Families in Clark County know what it feels like to get a “low” premium paired with a deductible bigger than a used car.

More subsidies won’t fix that. More competition and more control will.

Jacky Rosen is yelling at Republicans to distract from the truth.

The crisis didn’t start with the GOP. It started with Obamacare. The numbers prove it. The fraud proves it. And the broken promises prove it.

The question now is simple: Do you want more spin from Washington, or do you want a real fix that puts you back in charge?
