Republican Enters LV City Council Recall/Special Election

Republican Enters LV City Council Recall/Special Election
N&V Staff
January 9, 2012

(Suzette LaGrange-Miranda) – Many of you know I am very politically active and often outspoken about my frustration with local government in particular (i.e. City of Las Vegas, Clark County, etc.). There is a unique opportunity that was brought to my attention this weekend for me to run for the Las Vegas City Council in Ward 6. This is due to the recall efforts against incumbent Councilman Steve Ross.

Another liberal candidate is planning to run against Steve Ross which turns a “recall only” election into a straight up special election of the next city councilmember. The challenge is that we need to collect approximately 1,300 signatures from registered voters in the City of Las Vegas Ward 6 (far Northwest valley) by this Wednesday afternoon (yes…in 3 days) in order to get my name on the ballot! That is why I’m e-mailing and asking you to help me!

The Clark County Republican Party is pulling out all the stops and gathering up volunteers to walk the district and collect signatures (including robo calls that went out this evening). However, to be certain the effort is a success, I am asking 25 of my friends to help collect 50 signatures each (or more!) from registered voters in the area. Will you be willing to help me? In many cases, this would be a matter of walking one, maybe two neighborhoods and take a couple hours of your time. Can I count you in?

We will have all of the walk sheets with resident names and voter registration info on it in the morning. The Clark County Republican Party volunteers will be meeting at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday at Einstein Brother’s Bagels on Durango and Deer Springs (by Mimi’s Café) just north of I-215 and Durango. If you can’t make those time(s), that’s okay. You can walk a neighborhood of your choice at your convenience over the next 3 days. I just need to know what neighborhood you are going to walk (so we don’t duplicate efforts).

I REALLY need your help. I am stepping out in faith for the future of our great city of Las Vegas – but I can’t do it alone. Please let me know if you are interested in joining the signature gathering team!

If we don’t collect the signatures, the only choice the voters have is to keep Steve Ross, a liberal union puppet, or vote for Byron Goynes, yet another liberal. I don’t know about you…but I don’t like either option! That’s why I need your help! The City of Las Vegas needs an advocate for the taxpayers and families.

If I can count you in – please contact me at suzette.lagrange@colliers.com or via cell at 702-217-5890.

Our democracy is only as strong as those who participate in it…and I ask you for your participation over the next 3 days to do whatever you can to help me make Las Vegas a great place to call home!

Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance!
