The RINO Playbook: How Weak Republicans Keep Helping Democrats Win

Posted By

Ah, yes, bipartisanship.

That magical word RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) love to trot out when they’re about to roll over and make a deal with the devil (a.k.a., the Democrats) just so they can say they “passed a bill.”

Because, apparently, the ultimate objective of legislators isn’t good policy; it’s just passing more laws.

Even so-called “conservatives” measure their success by how many new laws they can shove onto the books.

Makes perfect sense, right? Because what conservative’s goal isn’t to… pass more laws!

And what’s the latest surrender?

Handing Democrats cover on mail-in ballots.

“The top Democrat and Republican in the Assembly are joining forces on a bill that would require all sample ballots to be sent to voters before mail ballots are distributed,” reported Eric Neugeboren this week.

“Assembly Minority Leader Gregory Hafen (R-Pahrump) is the lead sponsor of AB148, and on Tuesday, Assembly Speaker Steve Yeager (D-Las Vegas) joined as a sponsor.”

Uh-oh.

Fact is, adjusting the timeline for sending our sample ballots won’t fix the problem of ballots coming in AFTER election day, ballot harvesting, “moved” and dead voters still on the voter rolls, signature verification, etc.

Let’s be clear: Mail-in ballots are the Holy Grail of election shenanigans.

They’re ripe for fraud, impossible to truly secure, and make it easier for ballot harvesters to “help” voters fill out their choices (totally unbiasedly, of course).

Yet instead of standing firm, Nevada Republicans in the minority somehow think it’s a great idea to have Democrats pat you on the back and call it “compromise.”

Spoiler alert: Democrats aren’t compromising anything. They’re just getting GOP fingerprints on their latest scheme to cement permanent power.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, they’re also working on a jungle primary bill – despite the fact that Nevada voters already rejected the idea in a landslide.

But who cares what the voters think? Clearly, they’re too dumb to know what’s best for them, right?

Back to mail-in ballots.

If you’re in the minority, you don’t give the majority political cover. You use every tool to fight bad policy, not wrap it up with a nice little “bipartisan” bow.

Newsflash: If Democrats need Republican votes to pass something, it means they know it’s unpopular.

And instead of forcing them to own it, weak-kneed Republican Assembly Leader Hafen jumped in to give them a helping hand.

Brilliant. As always.

This isn’t bipartisanship. It’s political malpractice.

And it’s exactly why voters are sick of Republicans who care more about playing nice than actually fighting – and winning.
