(Mark Ciavola) – Over the weekend, under the leadership of UNLV College Republican president Mark Ciavola and UNR College Republican president Katie Fortuna, the College Republicans in Nevada federated for the first time in many years. The newly-formed College Republican Federation of Nevada (CRFNV) will now be officially recognized by the College Republican National Committee (CRNC) and will be able to send delegates to the upcoming CRNC elections.

“This symbolizes the growth of conservative thought in the youth of Nevada,” said Jay Yoon, 2nd Vice Chair of the College Republican Federation of Nevada. “We are beginning a new grassroots effort that will help groom the next generation of responsible leaders for our state, and for our nation.”

The College Republican Federation of Nevada is currently comprised of two chapters, UNLV and UNR, but is committed to growing by engaging Republican students at community colleges throughout the state.

“I am excited to be part of making the College Republicans in Nevada a unified force that is prepared to return our state to its rightful color of red in 2012,” said Katie Fortuna, 1st Vice Chair of the CRFNV.
