If you’ve spent any time in conservative circles lately, you might have noticed one TV show’s name coming up again and again.
That show is Landman. It feels like something we haven’t seen on TV in a long time.
A show that just tells a story without stopping every five minutes to explain what you’re supposed to believe.
Landman is one of my favorite shows right now. It’s also one of those rare cases where the reviews are terrible but the viewership is massive, which is the funniest kind of cultural data imo
Landman is very clearly made for people who still enjoy watching a world where things… https://t.co/yklMJWXmp0

It Feels Normal Again
That’s the word you keep seeing. Normal.
“Landman” is set in the oil and gas world, with rough jobs and rough language.
Folks go to work, mess up, argue, laugh, and still show up the next day.
For Nevadans, especially in rural parts of the state where mining, energy, and construction are dominant careers, it feels familiar.
People here know what it’s like to work long hours, deal with real risk, and still put food on the table.
No Speeches, No Scolding
Another reason conservatives appreciate “Landman” is for what it doesn’t do.
It doesn’t stop the story to scold the viewer.
Nobody delivers a long monologue about social justice. Nobody stares into the camera to explain modern morality.
Instead, characters show who they are through what they do.
Conservatives tend to like that kind of strength more than the slogan-driven version Hollywood usually serves up.
Critics Don’t Like It. Viewers Don’t Care.
Here’s the part that really drives the conversation.
Despite massive popularity, “Landman” sits around 40 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics haven’t been kind.
But viewers clearly don’t care.
The Season 2 premiere pulled in 9.2 million global views in its first 48 hours, making it Paramount+’s biggest original debut ever.
That doesn’t happen by accident.
It Fits a Pattern
Fans of Yellowstone noticed the same thing years ago. That show was also trashed by critics and embraced by regular viewers.
Both shows come from Taylor Sheridan, and his style is pretty clear.
He writes about competence, loyalty, and people who take responsibility instead of excuses.
So Why Do Conservatives Like It So Much?
Because “Landman” doesn’t hate them.
It doesn’t treat traditional values like a problem to be fixed. It doesn’t pretend arrogance is wisdom.
It shows Americans working, arguing, joking, and getting by without being told they’re doing life wrong.
“Landman” works because it trusts the audience. It assumes people can think for themselves.
And judging by the millions who keep watching, that’s a bet that’s paying off.
