Nevada students looking for help paying for college or trade school have a familiar option back on the table.
Earlier this month, NV Energy Foundation announced it’s once again offering its Powerful Partnership Scholarship Program for 2026.
The program has been around for more than two decades and has helped thousands of Nevada students take their next step after high school.
One-time scholarships of $1,000 or more will be awarded to graduating seniors who plan to attend an accredited Nevada university, college, or trade school.
The money can be used for tuition or other education-related costs, giving students a little breathing room as they head into the next chapter.
A Long-Running Program
The Powerful Partnership Scholarship Program dates back to 2000.
Since then, the NV Energy Foundation says it has helped more than 2,000 Nevada students continue their education without leaving the state.
That in-state focus matters. Nevada has spent years trying to build and keep a skilled workforce here at home, whether that’s in healthcare, construction, energy, or technical trades.
Programs like this are designed to help students stay rooted in Nevada while gaining the education or training they need to succeed.
The scholarships aren’t loans. They don’t have to be paid back.
And unlike some programs, they’re open to students pursuing traditional four-year degrees as well as those choosing community college or trade schools.
Application Deadlines by Region
The application process depends on where students live.
Southern Nevada applications are being handled by the Public Education Foundation. Graduating seniors in southern Nevada can apply now through February 2, 2026.
Northern Nevada applications are administered by the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada. Students in the northern part of the state have until March 1, 2026 to submit their applications.
Each foundation manages its own application process and requirements, but both focus on students planning to attend school in Nevada.
For many families, the cost of education keeps climbing while household budgets don’t.
Even a $1,000 scholarship can make a difference when it comes to books, tools, fees, or cutting down on student debt.
It’s also a reminder that not every path after high school looks the same.
College isn’t the only option, and Nevada’s economy depends just as much on skilled trades and technical workers as it does on four-year degrees.
Students who are already applying to schools should consider applying for scholarships at the same time.
Deadlines come fast, and missed opportunities don’t usually come back around.
