It’s been a couple years since we last got together at sea.
But with Trump back in the White House and the failed “Biden economy” finally turning around, it seems a good time to set sail once again.
This will be a short, four-day cruise – right before the filing deadline for office in March. Here are the details:
- Depart out of Long Beach, CA, on Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2026
- Day at Sea on Monday
- TWO days in Ensenada, Mexico, on Tuesday and Wednesday
- Arrive back in Long Beach early Thursday morning, March 5
If you’ve never been to Ensenada, here’s a quick description:
“Ensenada, Mexico, is a vibrant coastal gem where sunsets paint the sky, the ocean roars at La Bufadora, and the flavors of Baja come alive in every bite. Whether you’re strolling along the lively Malecón, tasting world-class wines in Valle de Guadalupe, or exploring historic plazas and bustling markets, Ensenada offers unforgettable adventures for every traveler.”
There’s no “formal” program or meetings onboard. Just a bunch of conservatives kicking back, blowing off some steam, relaxing before the election season heats up, and solving the world’s problems over margaritas and pina coladas on the Lido Deck.
In fact, it was on the last ConservaCruise that I decided to launch the Pigpen Project after discussing it with some of the folks with our group (thanks again, Bill).
So you never know what great ideas might come from the trip to help make America and Nevada great again!
Our ship, the Carnival Firenze – launched in 2020, so it’s relatively new – is also pretty cool and unique. Here’s a short description:
Step aboard Carnival Firenze and get all the fun you expect from Carnival, wrapped in a ship that actually feels like you’ve gone somewhere special. Instead of generic cruise décor, you’re surrounded by Florence-inspired piazzas, grand staircases, and Renaissance-style touches that make just walking around the ship feel like part of the vacation.
What sets Firenze apart from the “typical” Carnival ship is how that Italian theme runs through everything without losing the familiar Carnival energy. You still get the comedy club, big production shows, lively bars, and the sing‑along piano bar, but they sit alongside venues like Il Viaggio, La Strada Grill, and Tomodoro that lean hard into Italian and “Mexitalian” flavors you won’t find on the standard fleet.
For repeat Carnival cruisers, that means your favorite basics – casual vibe, friendly crew, sea‑day activities, kids’ programs – plus a ship that feels noticeably different. You’re not just doing another 4‑day Baja; you’re getting a themed, “Fun Italian Style” version of Carnival, where even grabbing a drink or late‑night bite feels like a twist on what you already know.
And if you’ve never taken a cruise before, here’s what’s included on your Carnival voyage:
- Amazing stage shows, live musical performances, stand-up comedy and more
- Clubs, bars and lounges featuring DJs spinning, karaoke, piano sing-alongs and more
- Deck parties, game shows, trivia contests and more fun ways to get involved
- A fully stocked fitness center, plus outdoor sports activities
- Pools and hot tubs for all, plus an Adults-Only Retreat
- All your meals, including the full-service Main Dining Room
- All your beverages (not including alcohol)
- A variety of room types, with options to sleep up to 5 people per room
- Stateroom attendant and daily turn-down service
- Beach towels ready in your room, with bathrobes upon request
- In-room safe for storing valuables
- Plus tons of kid-friendly activities

The early-March weather in Ensenada is usually mild. Think cool mornings and comfortable afternoons, with highs running about 67–71°F. So you’ll want to pack a light jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt.
There’s usually an “elegant” evening where you have the option of “dressing to the nines” and getting some memorable photos taken.
Now the best part…
Since this particular week lands before “spring break,” the rates are dirt cheap. The whole kit-and-kaboodle starts at just $189 per person in a two-person “Interior” room (not including gratuities of around $50/person).
That includes all your food, all your beverages (not including alcohol), all your entertainment, all the political conversation you can handle – and all your FUN!
But hang on, it gets better…
Earlier this year I found an absolutely fantastic travel advisor who got me even cheaper rates than those listed on the cruise ship’s website.
No guarantees, but if you call Rooster to book – and tell him you’re sailing with “Chuck Muth” – he’ll bust a gut to set you up with the best possible deal he can find.

P.S. If you have kids – especially if you’re a homeschooler – by all means, bring them. Conservatives are nothing if not pro-family. And the ship has plenty of options for the kiddos:
- Camp Ocean for kids ages 2–11
- Circle “C”, the fun spot for younger teens, ages 12–14
- Club O2 for older teens, ages 15–17, to hang out, enjoy activities and more
Even if you’re not a homeschooler, consider letting your kids play “hooky” for a few days. This will be an educational experience unlike anything they’ll ever learn in a public-school classroom.
In fact, here’s a photo from a few cruises ago where some of our kids learned about tequila in Cabo!
