Uh, today is Thursday, so it’s Nevada news and views Thursday, a great source of information for and commentary locally, statewide and nationally. At Nevada news and views.com Nevada news and views.com and part of our Nevada news and views Thursday, we’ve got Jill Douglas joining us, Chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party and Camden for the 37th Assembly District. General. Thanks so much for being with us. I appreciate it well.

Jill Douglass 0:27
Thank you for having me. I appreciate your the opportunity to be on and talk to you this morning.

Alan Stock 0:33
So let’s talk a little bit about you wrote a couple of columns. I want to talk about a lot of some local things too, but, but I want to talk about this also because you wrote a great column about Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shaw. He was a war hero, and he spent years fighting terrorists overseas, so we wouldn’t have to face them here at home, and yet, he was shot down on an Old Dominion trying to protect the young people going to school. There is a tragic story.

Jill Douglass 1:02
Oh gosh, those stories, they just, they just really tiny with knots. Because I just, you know, these shootings, they just have to stop.

Alan Stock 1:16
Well And this, I just want to mention that you want to say this guy was a he served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned two Bronze Stars, an Air Medal with valor, and he was protecting students at Old Dominion. This was one of a couple of incidents that occurred almost back to back. We’ll talk about the other one in a moment. But this one, this bad guy went in and this guy had been convicted. This guy had been convicted in 2019 the perp for ISIS related plots. And wait, wait a minute, he got released from prison early in 2024 What’s with that?

Jill Douglass 2:03
I tell you, I just don’t know what is going on that, you know, good people doing the right things. Here he is, that, that guy, you know, war hero. He’s what teachings ROTC and we continue to let criminals out of jail, and we’re making our communities less safe and, and I don’t understand it. You know, there used to be that saying, hey, you know, you do the crime, you pay the time. And somehow the woke Democrats, as they’ve gotten, you know, in in power have continued to chip away at public safety, and, you know, and we’re just continuing to release criminals back into communities, and good Americans are paying the price with their life.

Alan Stock 2:59
Yeah, let me ask you something. I I’m gonna philosophical. Why? Why do you think they’re doing that? I mean, they do want this happening. I talked to Kevin mcmael, our sheriff yesterday. We’ll talk about this you and I’ll talk about this in a few moments. But we have a judge who tried to get a guy released back into society, who had 35 arrests. You have this guy here who is a known had a known terror history, the guy we’re talking about, and yet so Americans say, well, let’s give him a second chance. What’s behind this kind of mental of mentality,

Jill Douglass 3:36
you know, I, I it is unfathomable to me that you cannot see clearly when criminals repeat crimes are going to repeat crimes. One thing the other thing is we have to wake up to the threat of of those who who practice Islam in our country, they their worship is all about harm to those who don’t believe what they believe. And we cannot take that lightly. And they’re, they’re showing us over and over and over again through the actions that they’re taking that they mean us harm.

Alan Stock 4:22
You know, I have yet to hear. And again, people might say, Why are you picking on a religion like Islam? Why are you doing that? The truth is, is that, and this is, this is the fact. And if I’m wrong on this, please prove me wrong, please. But I haven’t heard of one mosque or one imam in in all of the United States coming out and condemning these actions that have occurred from radical Islamists over the last couple of months. We’re talking about several events that have occurred that have tried to take people’s lives. Or have been successful in taking people’s lives, and I have not heard one imam or again mosque condemned this. And I can only imagine, you know, if it happened, if somebody didn’t in the name of Christianity or Judaism, I can’t, I mean, I would, I would expect a a minister or rabbi to come out and condemn the actions, but I have not heard anyone. And so if people are saying, Why are you picking on Islam I’m not picking on it, and neither are you. I want to see people condemn it. If this is just radical Islamists, let’s condemn all of us condemn it, including the Muslims here. But so far, they’re not condemning it. And I think that’s absolutely pathetic. And just to quickly tie that in with the other event that occurred, the Detroit temple attack that occurred as well, where a guy drove a car into a synagogue in Detroit with explosives and shut and firing shots from a rifle and was himself killed or committed suicide, we’re not sure which. But I mean, they’re, these are not only anti semitic attacks, they’re attacks on America and America’s freedom, right?

Jill Douglass 6:16
It’s very shocking. You know his history being from Lebanon, married a US citizen. You know, come to our country. They have had a couple kids. Obviously, he got divorced. And, you know, they, they just start building up such hatred. I think a lot of times when these when these individuals come to our country, they never really assimilate. They never really have a love for America, which is what you would hope when someone becomes a US citizen, that they’re embracing our country. They’re embracing what we stand for which America was built on Judeo Christian principles, and it’s alarming that that our Jewish community is being so targeted. All they want is to be able to raise their families, worship, and they have a have a right to, you know, to have a country and and it’s, you know, and the attacks on them just cannot, cannot be tolerated.

Alan Stock 7:39
Yeah, it’s absolutely pathetic and once. And just to be to clarify, it is a Judeo Christian country. I heard last night I was watching some show. In fact, the first mosque was not built in the United States until 1923 so the country was founded originally on Judeo Christian principles. Judeo Christian principles, not as a Muslim country. I’m not saying we shouldn’t have Muslims here, but I am saying that if you are coming into this country, I don’t care what your religion or race or nationality or ethnicity or sex is, or whatever you know when you’re coming to this country, you know, become part of this country, e pluribus unum, become part of the other nation. Become a proud American. And right that don’t come here, right?

Jill Douglass 8:35
The disturbing thing is, you know, if the Muslims who practice Islam, if they’re practicing Islam, then they are believing in the Quran. The Quran is specific in how they tip the scales towards, you know, eternal salvation, and it is through martyring those who don’t worship. You know, Allah, it is Death to the infidel. They’re showing us what they believe and the actions that we are taking. It would never be tolerated by any other entity. We cannot, as a people, tolerate a group of individuals. I don’t even consider it religion. I consider it more like it’s the philosophy, which is death to anyone that does not believe in worship. What? What we believe? It’s right there. And so if they are a track practicing Islam. It is there the and they’re showing us repeatedly what they believe,

Alan Stock 9:47
and people are defending their them and their right to be able to be hateful toward America. And it just is mind boggling. Stay with me. I do want to talk about we talk about the fact that this one guy was. Was released early, even though he was a known terrorist, but he was released early, and now we have a situation where a criminal who should have been behind bars was released early by a judge here in Las Vegas, and our sheriff is standing up here for the rule of law. I want to give you a chance to comment. Comment on that. In just a moment, we’re talking with Jill Douglas, Chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party, also candidate for the 37th Assembly District. You can hear she will be a great representative for the 37th Assembly District. We’ll come on back and continue our discussion with her next right here on Vegas at eight and a good morning. Great to have you with us on this Thursday morning. Nevada. News and views. Thursday we have Jill Douglas joining us, Chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party, candidate for the 37th assembly district. And Jill, thanks so much taking the time to join us this morning. We appreciate it. Yeah, we were talking a moment ago about this guy who shot a war hero at Old Dominion University, and this guy who did the shooting had been a person who had was in prison with a terror history, and he was given a second chance anyway. And then you have a case of a guy locally who had 35 arrests and the judge wanted to release some money, $25,000 bail, which translates 10% to $2,500 our sheriff said, I’m not going to do it. I can’t do it. The sheriff was threatened with contempt. Kevin mcmael was on the show yesterday. They released them back into society because he was forced to legally. And he predicted on my show yesterday, at the end of the show, he predicted on air that this guy would wind up being arrested again. I turn on the news at four o’clock yesterday, and what do I see the opening news item, the guy’s arrested for a 36th time,

Jill Douglass 11:57
yeah, on 27 different counts. I’m like, the guy is a criminal. He is always going to be a criminal. And I am shocked that any judge would release somebody like that back into the public. And I applaud our sheriff for being firm and taking his stance and trying to put the safety of citizens, public safety first.

Alan Stock 12:26
I mean, that’s that’s the job of a law enforcement official, under the sheriff is to protect the safety of the people. And as I said to the sheriff yesterday, it’s the job of government to protect the citizens, primarily, nothing else is number one, not education, not any, any of the other laws you want to pass, the ideas, whatever you none of that means anything. If the citizenry are not safe, not safe,

Jill Douglass 12:55
that’s right, I cannot fathom how any judge, any judge would think after 35 you know, arrest, that this person should be on and about with the public, I mean, and at what time are There ramifications to the judges who make such egregious rulings.

Alan Stock 13:25
Yeah, I this. Well, if we, if this judge comes up for confirmation from the public again, will remind everyone who he is and what he what he has stood for. This is where big time, I think this is what we have to concentrate on a lot when it comes to elections. For me, this year means not only reelecting our governor, but reelecting more state senators and state assembly people to work with the governor for his agenda. But it also means looking at the judges like this particular judge was a terrible ruling and and if they’re going to come down on the side of criminals, we got to get the judges, those judges, out of there. Big Year this year, and you’re running for the 37th Assembly District, and I want people to pay particular attention, because I think do an absolutely great job there. Jill Douglas with us this morning, Chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party, representing the Nevada news and views. If you want to find some a great source of news and commentary for local, statewide and national news, it’s Nevada news and views.com. Nevada news and views.com.
