One leads to independence, one leads to serfdom
(Jeff Carter) – Looked at the Michigan primary returns from last night and the aftermath. Last night, a socialist and out of the closet anti-semite won the Michigan Democratic primary for Senate.
My Nevada Senator Cortez-Masto praised him effusively.
Democratic Senator John Fetterman can’t get on board with the antisemitic socialist.
Let’s cut to the chase. If you are a person who is persuaded by the Democratic agenda, ask yourself why. Democrats are telling you that you will get free stuff. Free buses. Free health care. Free college. Free housing. Free stuff.
Remember the old saying from when internet companies started giving away everything. “If it’s free, you are the product.” Facebook and the rest monetize you. In return, you get to use the platform for free, and you might get utility value out of it.
You are willing to make that trade-off with a private company.
Are you willing to make it with the government?
If you make that deal with the government, and you become the product, you get monetized. They get to use you any way they want.
- You don’t get to say where you want to live.
- You don’t get to choose your college.
- You don’t get to choose your job.
- You don’t get to choose.
- You won’t get to choose when it comes to your body.
You are told. You are a commodity, like cattle.
There will be wealthy enough people who still get some choice. There will also be government bureaucrats who will find ways to get themselves or some cronies some choice.
The average citizen will not get choice.
They will dress it up. It will look appealing, like one of the Sirens from the Odyssey. Choose “free”, and it will end your ability to choose.
The big problem with freedom and independence is that it comes with consequences. Failure happens. Some people do better. Some do worse. Some do the same. But if there is a potential for failure, abject crushing failure, that also means there is a chance for soaring unbelievable success too.
Your choice. But if you choose wrong, you will never be able to choose again.
