(Dr. Joe Heck) – On Wednesday, as the political winds of change were becoming clear that Americans were fed up with tax and spend, big government ideas like the Titus//Pelosi healthcare debacle, Dina Titus quickly shifted her position on healthcare to protect her own self-interest.
Titus, who hasn’t held a private sector job in more than three decades, is desperate to keep her taxpayer funded title, paycheck and mailing privileges and will do anything to avoid getting a real job. Today, Titus backed off of her efforts to overhaul the American healthcare system recognizing that it would be nearly impossible to both promote her left-wing agenda and keep her taxpayer funded job.
The Las Vegas Review Journal is reporting that in the wake of the historic election in Massachusetts Dina Titus has finally realized, “my feeling is that this is a whole different dynamic,” (Scale back health reform, move on to jobs, Titus and Berkley urge Congress, lvrj.com, 1-20-10).
The dynamic has not changed in Southern Nevada, it just took a Massachusetts statement for her to get the picture. For months the people of Southern Nevada have been unhappy with failed stimulus plans, trillion dollar deficit growth and the irresponsible over-reach of the Democrat healthcare bill. Unfortunately, it looks like Dina Titus cares a lot more about what people in Massachusetts think than her constituents in Southern Nevada.
Dina Titus has long been a champion of Liberal special interests, but now she may temporarily turn her back on even her favorite PACs to save herself. Titus boasts a record of supporting San Francisco House Speaker Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time – one of the most consistent records in Congress.
Much of Dina Titus’ damage has already been done; the reckless spending, increased regulation and taxes on small businesses, the death tax, “Cap and Trade” and other jobs-killing bills are a part of her daily effort to advance an agenda much more in line with San Francisco than Southern Nevada.
Americans are sick and tired of politicians who shift with the polls. We need honest leadership in Washington DC and a new group of leaders willing to stand up for what is right – whether it is popular or not. Dina Titus can try to change her spots today, but her unwavering support for the job-killing agenda of Nancy Pelosi is keeping good Nevadans out of work and creating an insurmountable debt for our children.
The people of Southern Nevada won’t fall for this bait and switch…it becomes clearer each day that Dina Titus is looking out for….Dina Titus.
