Reno RINO: Assemblyman DeLong Lies About My Hollywood Handout Columns

Posted By

As noted earlier today, five Republicans in the State Assembly voted to keep the Hollywood Handout bill alive. If only ONE of those five Republicans had voted to kill it, it would have been killed.

One of those five Assembly critters was Rich DeLong (Reno-RINO) – a man who signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge when he ran for his seat and has since broken it time and time again.

Anyway, a Muth’s Truths reader emailed DeLong the following message earlier today:

“Please be advised, I along with Chuck Muth do not support tax breaks for corporate Hollywood. . . . I do not support this bill and will not vote for anyone that does.”

To which DeLong replied:

“Thank you for the email. Even though I am not your Assemblyman I wanted to respond. Chuck Muth has done three op-eds in support of the Studio Jobs Bill.”

How do I put this nicely?

Rich DeLong is a lying sack of schitzel.

I have written multiple times about this proposal – sharing with readers both the pros and the cons. And I’ve ALWAYS said I was keeping an OPEN MIND until the final language of the bill was released.

In addition, I’ve ALWAYS conditioned my *possible* support – including to one of the project’s main lobbyists – on whether a school choice component was included in the bill.

Indeed, here’s exactly what I wrote way back on May 30, 2025, when the original bill came up during the regular session:

“Negotiations on the final bill continue as you’re reading this. The devil will be in the details for conservatives. For our support, this needs to be a win-win for all concerned.

“If proponents of this project, in these final days of the session, were to add in, say, $11 million for private school choice Opportunity Scholarships . . . well, THAT would be something serious for conservatives to talk about.

“I’m so sick of weak Republicans in Carson City cutting deals where the Left gets the gold mine and we get the shaft. If Republicans are going to make a deal on this deal before the session ends, they need to bring home some REAL bacon.”

And in my op-ed on Wednesday of this week I wrote

“Republicans should unite in conditioning a ‘yes’ vote on whether or not the Democrats agree to Assemblyman P.K. O’Neill’s very reasonable and minimal proposal to restore Opportunity Scholarships to its previous level – with specific language barring Democrats from undoing it again in a future session. . . .

“If Democrats refuse to give even this tiny little inch on Opportunity Scholarships, then let them walk the Hollywood studio plank without a single Republican vote – just like how the ObamaCare disaster was passed in Congress.”

And just yesterday I wrote:

“Conservatives need more CONSERVATIVE Republicans who are willing to fight instead of rolling over in the Legislature. That’s what GOP primaries in GOP districts are for. Keep a close eye on Republicans in Republican districts who vote for the Hollywood studio without getting some measure of school choice in return. It might be time for an upgrade.”

So, yeah, Rich DeLong is lying through his teeth when he claims I’ve “done three op-eds in support of the Studio Jobs Bill.”

I’ve ALWAYS said the proposal was worth discussing. But I’ve also ALWAYS said possible support had to include a school choice component.

Which the Democrats refuse to consider.

And the weak-kneed DeLong refuses to fight for.

So screw the Hollywood Handout and screw Assemblyman DeLong for being a spineless, lying weasel.

If anyone in his district is interested in possibly running against him in the GOP primary next year, shoot me an email.
