Dwight “Doc” Gooden
According to an Associate Press report in 1994, the former Major League Baseball pitcher and Cy Young Award winner “put a gun to his head and considered suicide” after being suspended from the New York Yankees for drug use.
Gooden told the paper he was “sitting in the bedroom with a gun in my hand” when his wife came in. She “freaked,” started screaming, grabbed the gun from his hands, and then “ran and called my mom and told her to come over right away.”
